The Passenger Pigeon (*Ectopistes migratorius*) was once one of the most numerous bird species in the world with an estimated population of atleat 3 billion birds, Native to North America. unfortunately, this species went extinct by 1900 due to overhunting and habitat destruction. The very last one named, Martha was found dead on September 1, 1914 at Cincinnati Zoo.(Biello, 2014, para.2)

These birds went to extinction by overhunting and habitat destruction. prior to colonization, native americans fed on these birds, without harming their continued existence, but the commercial consumption in 19th and early 20th century led to their demise. At the same time, there was a huge in their breeding population inspite their numerous poulation, only, 330,000 which also contribuited in their extinction.(Fadelli, n.d. para. 1)
